Charging Imported EVs in the UAE: GB/T, Type 2 & CCS2 Compatibility Guide

Charging Imported EVs in the UAE: GB/T, Type 2 & CCS2 Compatibility Guide

Imported EVs can use different charging connectors depending on the market they were originally built for. China-market vehicles may use GB/T, while North American-spec vehicles may use NACS or CCS1.

If you drive an imported EV in the UAE, identifying your vehicle’s exact charging connector is the first step to choosing the right AC or DC charging adapter.

Identify Your EV Charging Connector

GB/T — commonly found on China-market EVs, including certain imported BYD, XPeng, Li Auto and Zeekr models.

NACS — used by certain North American-market EVs, including Tesla vehicles.

CCS1 — used for DC fast charging on various North American-spec EVs.

Type 2 — widely used for AC charging.

CCS2 — used for DC fast charging.

The same vehicle can have different charging connectors depending on its market, model and year. Always confirm the exact charging port on your vehicle before selecting an adapter.

Which Adapter Do You Need?

Your Vehicle AC Charging DC Fast Charging
GB/T Type 2 → GB/T CCS2 → GB/T
NACS Type 2 → NACS CCS2 → NACS
CCS1 Depends on vehicle AC inlet CCS2 → CCS1

AC and DC charging require different solutions. An AC adapter used for home or destination charging does not replace a dedicated DC fast-charging adapter.

Charging GB/T Vehicles in the UAE

For a compatible GB/T vehicle, a Type 2 to GB/T AC adapter provides access to compatible Type 2 AC charging.

For fast charging, a dedicated CCS2 to GB/T DC adapter provides the connection between a compatible CCS2 DC charger and GB/T vehicle.

Charging NACS & CCS1 Vehicles

Compatible NACS vehicles can use a Type 2 to NACS adapter for AC charging and the appropriate CCS2 to NACS adapter for DC fast charging.

For compatible CCS1 vehicles, a CCS2 to CCS1 DC adapter provides the connection to a compatible CCS2 fast charger.

Choose the Right EV Adapter

The right charging solution starts with three things:

Your vehicle connector + charging point + AC or DC charging.

EVTRIX offers AC and DC adapter solutions for compatible GB/T, NACS and CCS1 electric vehicles, covering both everyday AC charging and DC fast-charging requirements for imported EVs.

For the right connection, always confirm your vehicle’s exact model, market specification, charging connector and AC/DC charging capability before selecting your adapter.
